
New Delhi: The University of Leeds has opened applications for its full-time, 12-month MSc in Health Informatics with Data Science programme commencing in September 2026. Designed for students seeking to work at the intersection of healthcare and technology, the course equips participants with the skills to harness health data and informatics for evidence-based decision-making and innovation.
Offered by the Faculty of Medicine and Health in collaboration with the Institute of Health Sciences and the Department of Computer Science, the interdisciplinary programme blends advanced training in data science, statistics and healthcare systems. Students gain practical experience analysing real-world healthcare datasets and learn to translate insights into solutions that can shape policy and clinical practice.
The curriculum includes core modules and a research project covering statistics and modelling, human factors, artificial intelligence, and the legal, ethical and governance frameworks surrounding health data. Learners can further tailor their studies through elective modules aligned with their career goals.
The University of Leeds says students will benefit from strong industry linkages, including engagement with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, national health bodies and regional digital health firms. Applicants must hold a first-class or equivalent undergraduate degree in a relevant subject from a recognised Indian university. The programme will commence in September 2026, with the application deadline set for July 31, 2026. The course duration is 12 months on a full-time basis. For English proficiency, students must have Standard XII English scores of 70–75% (depending on the state board) or an overall IELTS score of 6.5 with no band below 6.0. The tuition fee for the programme is £29,750 (approximately ₹35.01 lakh).
Scholarships:
Indian applicants are eligible for a £6,000 International Masters Regional Scholarship. Additionally, up to 500 International Excellence Scholarships offering as much as a 50% fee reduction are available for international students.
Global Industry Programme:
Students enrolled at Leeds can participate in a two-week virtual Global Industry Programme, gaining consultancy experience with international organisations. The initiative is aimed at strengthening practical skills and improving employability in the competitive graduate job market.
