Trump Urges Iranians to ‘Take Over the Government’ as US Launches Large-Scale Attack

Washington/Tehran: US President Donald Trump on Saturday called on the Iranian people to “take over” their government as American forces, alongside Israel, launched a large-scale military assault on Iranian targets in a dramatic escalation of regional tensions.

In a video address from Florida, Trump told Iranians, “When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take. This will probably be your only chance for generations,” directly appealing for internal political change amid the unfolding military campaign.

The remarks came as the United States and Israel carried out coordinated strikes on what officials described as regime-linked and strategic military facilities across Iran. Israeli security sources termed the action a “joint offensive operation,” with attacks reported in the early hours of Saturday.

Explosions were heard in northern and eastern Tehran, as well as in Isfahan, Karaj, and Kermanshah, according to Iranian media reports. Smoke was seen rising over parts of the capital, heightening fears of a broader confrontation in the Middle East.

One reported strike occurred near the office complex of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, though it remains unclear whether he was present at the time. Iranian authorities have yet to provide details on casualties or the extent of the damage.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz confirmed the operation, calling it a “pre-emptive strike” to neutralize threats against Israel. He also declared an immediate nationwide state of emergency in anticipation of possible retaliation.

A senior US official said American military operations were underway in parallel with Israeli strikes, underscoring the scale and coordination of the assault.

The joint offensive marks one of the most significant direct military actions against Iran in recent years, sharply intensifying an already volatile standoff over Tehran’s regional posture and military capabilities.

The situation remains fluid, with global attention fixed on how Iran will respond.
