India Sends Emergency Medical Aid to Kabul After Deadly Hospital Strike

New Delhi: In a swift humanitarian response, India has dispatched a 2.5-ton consignment of emergency medical supplies to Afghanistan following the devastating attack on a Kabul hospital allegedly carried out by Pakistan.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that the shipment includes essential medicines, medical disposables, emergency kits, and critical equipment to support the treatment of those injured in the March 16 strike.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the aid aims to assist in the “swift recovery” of victims of what he termed a “heinous attack.” Sharing details on X, he reaffirmed India’s commitment to standing by the Afghan people during the crisis.

“India stands in solidarity with the Afghan people and will continue to extend all possible humanitarian support in this difficult hour,” he stated.

India Slams ‘Unconscionable’ Strike

India also issued a strong condemnation of the alleged airstrike on the Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital in Kabul, calling it a “barbaric” and “cowardly” act.

In an official statement, the government said the hospital— a 2,000-bed facility dedicated to treating drug addiction—could not be justified as a military target under any circumstances.

“The attack is an unconscionable act of violence that has led to significant civilian casualties,” the MEA said.

Heavy Civilian Toll Reported

According to Taliban authorities, the strike resulted in the deaths of at least 400 people, with around 250 others injured, making it one of the deadliest incidents in recent weeks.

The attack comes amid escalating tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, following a series of cross-border clashes and aerial confrontations, raising fresh concerns over regional stability.

India’s humanitarian outreach, even as it condemns the violence, signals its continued engagement and support for the Afghan people during a deepening crisis.
