Gaya: Traffic cabins installed near the Delha flyover to streamline vehicle movement have fallen into disuse, exposing glaring lapses in traffic management. The cabins, set up with support from National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), have been lying abandoned for months and are now being used as garbage dumps.
Despite their intended purpose, the cabins remain locked and neglected, forcing traffic personnel to manage congestion on open roads under extreme heat. With temperatures in Gaya hovering around 40°C, the situation has sparked concerns over both efficiency and the well-being of on-duty staff.
Residents allege that the defunct cabins have worsened traffic chaos and heightened accident risks, pointing to administrative apathy. Attempts to reach officials from the district police and traffic department reportedly went unanswered.
What has drawn further criticism is the fact that the route is frequently used by senior district officials and state ministers, yet the deteriorating condition of the cabins continues to go unnoticed.
Adding to the chaos, an illegal Toto (e-rickshaw) stand has mushroomed near the flyover, operating openly even in the presence of traffic personnel. The Delha bus stand and Toto stand have long encroached onto the road, but authorities, including the Gaya Municipal Corporation, have failed to act, locals say.
