News Desk: Pakistan has once again landed in the international spotlight after several globally wanted terrorists were reportedly seen attending the funeral of slain Al-Badr commander Hamza Burhan in Islamabad, reigniting allegations about the presence of extremist networks operating openly inside the country.
Hamza Burhan, also known as Arjumand Gulzar Dar, was a senior commander of the banned terror outfit Al-Badr and was allegedly linked to multiple terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir. He was recently killed by unidentified gunmen in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), reportedly near Muzaffarabad.
His funeral, held in Islamabad under tight security, drew the attention of security agencies and observers after visuals surfaced showing the presence of several notorious terror operatives and extremist leaders.

Hizbul Mujahideen Chief Among Those Present
Among those reportedly seen at the funeral was Syed Salahuddin, chief of the banned terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen and one of India’s most wanted terrorists. Senior Al-Badr leaders and other Pakistan-based extremist operatives were also allegedly present during the burial ceremony.
Visuals from the event reportedly showed heavily armed guards carrying assault rifles surrounding the attendees, highlighting the high-security nature of the gathering.
The incident has sparked fresh debate over Pakistan’s long-standing denial of providing shelter to extremist organizations accused of carrying out terror activities in India.

Hamza Burhan’s Alleged Role in Terror Activities
Indian security agencies had earlier linked Hamza Burhan to terror recruitment, logistics, and planning operations in Kashmir. Reports have also associated him with networks connected to the 2019 Pulwama terror attack that killed 40 CRPF personnel.
Operating under multiple aliases, Burhan was considered an influential figure within Al-Badr and allegedly played a key role in coordinating militant activities from across the border.
His killing is being viewed as part of a growing pattern of mysterious targeted attacks against Pakistan-based terror operatives in recent years.
Fresh Embarrassment for Islamabad
The public appearance of internationally designated terrorists at the funeral has once again intensified scrutiny of Pakistan’s counterterrorism claims.
Security analysts say the incident could further damage Islamabad’s global image, especially at a time when Pakistan has been attempting to project itself as a responsible partner in regional security and anti-terror efforts.
The funeral has also brought renewed focus on terror outfits such as Al-Badr and Hizbul Mujahideen, both of which have long been accused by India of operating from Pakistani territory with institutional protection.
Diplomatic observers believe the visuals and reports emerging from Islamabad may once again fuel international concerns over extremist safe havens in the region and Pakistan’s continued struggle to distance itself from terror-linked organizations.
