Narendra Modi Breaks Historic Record, World Leaders Laud India’s Longest-Serving Elected PM

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has achieved a historic political milestone by becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister in uninterrupted tenure, surpassing the record previously held by the country’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. The achievement sparked congratulatory messages from world leaders, who hailed Modi’s leadership and India’s growing influence on the global stage.

Modi crossed the landmark of 4,078 consecutive days in office, a feat unmatched by any elected Prime Minister in India’s democratic history. Since assuming office in May 2014, he has led the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to three consecutive Lok Sabha victories, cementing his place among the most influential political leaders of contemporary India.

Global Leaders Extend Greetings

Leaders from across Asia, Europe, and the Pacific region congratulated Modi on the achievement, describing it as a reflection of the trust and confidence reposed in him by the Indian people.

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake praised Modi’s enduring leadership and acknowledged India’s remarkable economic and social transformation under his tenure. He noted that India’s progress has had a positive impact across South Asia.

Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape described Modi as an inspirational global leader and credited him with steering India toward unprecedented economic growth and international prominence. He also reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with New Delhi.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni congratulated Modi on the historic milestone and highlighted the expanding strategic partnership between India and Italy, expressing confidence that cooperation between the two nations would continue to deepen.

Recognition of India’s Rising Global Standing

Several international leaders and diplomats noted that Modi’s tenure has coincided with India’s emergence as a major global economic and geopolitical force. Under his leadership, India has expanded its role in multilateral forums, strengthened strategic partnerships, and projected itself as a leading voice of the Global South.

India’s successful hosting of the G20 Summit, rapid digital transformation, infrastructure expansion, and sustained economic growth were cited as key achievements that have enhanced the country’s international stature.

A Historic Political Legacy

Political observers view the milestone as a defining moment in India’s democratic journey. Modi is the first non-Congress Prime Minister to complete three consecutive terms and has remained one of the most popular elected leaders in the country for over a decade.

His tenure has been marked by major initiatives in infrastructure development, welfare delivery, digital governance, manufacturing, defense modernization, and foreign policy outreach. Supporters credit these measures with reshaping India’s developmental trajectory and strengthening its global profile.

Milestone Beyond Numbers

As messages of congratulations continue to pour in from across the world, the achievement is being seen as more than a record of longevity. It symbolizes a period during which India has sought to redefine its economic ambitions, strategic priorities, and international standing under Modi’s leadership.

For many global leaders, the milestone reflects not only the political endurance of Narendra Modi but also the growing significance of India in shaping the future global order.
