Bokaro: Alleging serious lapses in the investigation of three separate murder cases in Chandankiyari and the adjoining Bermo OP area, Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JKLM) Central General Secretary and former Chandankiyari Assembly candidate Arjun Rajwar has submitted a memorandum to the Bokaro Superintendent of Police, demanding immediate action against the culprits and a fresh review of the investigations.
In the memorandum, Rajwar claimed that despite the recovery of the victims’ bodies in all three cases, the police have failed to identify or arrest the accused even after months and, in some cases, years. He warned that if prompt action is not taken, the party would be compelled to launch a public agitation.
Three Unsolved Murder Cases Highlighted
Woman Missing from Bokaro Found Dead Three Days Later
The memorandum refers to the murder of Namita Devi (55), whose partially burnt body was recovered from bushes near the Chandankiyari Community Health Centre on February 22, 2026. According to Rajwar, the woman had gone missing from Bokaro Sector-2 on January 20, and was reportedly captured in CCTV footage at several locations in Chas and Chandankiyari on the same day.
He alleged that although senior police officials had assured swift action after the body was recovered, the murder mystery remains unsolved even months later.
Widow’s Murder Still Unsolved
Rajwar also cited the case of Saraswati Rajwar (30), a widow whose body was recovered on June 22, 2024, behind an upgraded middle school in Parbatpur village under the Bermo OP area.
He alleged that her husband’s death had also occurred under suspicious circumstances but was never properly investigated. According to the memorandum, Saraswati’s two young children are now being raised by their elderly and differently-abled grandfather, while those responsible for her murder continue to roam free.
Auto Driver’s Body Found in Vehicle
The third case concerns Akhtar Hussain (53), an auto-rickshaw driver from Jharia, whose body was found inside his vehicle near Lattand in Chandankiyari on September 24, 2025. The body was reportedly in a decomposed state when recovered.
Rajwar alleged that despite sustained efforts, the local police have neither identified the motive nor arrested any suspects in the case.
Demand for Fresh Probe
In his representation, Rajwar urged the Superintendent of Police to ensure a fair and time-bound investigation into all three murder cases, identify those responsible, and bring them to justice. He alleged that continued delays have weakened public confidence in law enforcement.
The memorandum concludes with a warning that if appropriate action is not initiated at the earliest, the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JKLM) will be forced to launch a democratic agitation over the issue.
