Hyderabad: Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police have registered cases against Meta India Head Arun Srinivas and several Facebook and Instagram accounts over the alleged circulation of AI-generated and morphed content targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the nationwide protests over the NEET paper-leak controversy, according to media reports.
The FIRs were reportedly lodged following complaints that objectionable videos, digitally altered images and misleading posts featuring the Prime Minister were shared across Meta-owned social media platforms during demonstrations linked to the Cockroach Janta Party’s protest at Jantar Mantar.
Complaints Filed by Telangana Residents
The complaints were submitted by S. Aravind Reddy, a 29-year-old businessman, and T. Saikiran Goud, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activist from Telangana.
The complainants alleged that they encountered multiple Facebook and Instagram posts containing obscene, derogatory and manipulated content depicting Prime Minister Modi. They claimed the material included offensive language, digitally altered visuals and AI-generated images intended to ridicule the Prime Minister and encourage their wider circulation on social media.

Allegations of AI-Generated Content
According to the complaints, the posts featured manipulated visuals accompanied by abusive comments that allegedly sought to amplify the offensive content and increase public engagement. The complainants further alleged that the material appeared to have been digitally altered or generated using artificial intelligence before being circulated online.
Concerns Over Misinformation and Public Order
The complaints argued that such content could mislead the public, spread misinformation and potentially incite social unrest. They also alleged that the posts could defame public figures, disturb public order, promote hostility among different sections of society and violate various provisions of law.
Investigation Underway
Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police have initiated an investigation into the complaints to determine the origin, authenticity and circulation of the alleged AI-generated and morphed content. Authorities are examining the role of the social media accounts involved and the circumstances under which the material was shared.
Meta has not issued an official public response to the reports at the time of filing this story.
