Centre will now focus on research in social science: Javadekar

GNS / New Delhi: Central Government will now focus on research and research in social science instead of science and engineering. Impressus (Impactful Policy Research in Social Science) scheme has been implemented for this. It will be researched on the social dimension of democracy, media, social, culture, employment, skill, good governance, economic policy, agriculture, health, education.

Based on the research, the government will make changes in its policy. The special thing is that in two years, for the fifteen hundred projects, Rs 418 crores would be spent, while Rs 20 to 25 lakhs would be given to the researcher. HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar launched the Impression Plan and portal of ICSSR (Indian Council of Social Science Research).

He said that now there is a need for research in social science. He said that native and foreign universities in Spark will brain gain together to brain drain. The application window has been opened on the ICSSR website. The institutions performing better in NIRF of central, private and state government will be able to apply while retired teachers are also getting an opportunity to become a substitute.
