RNS: Two Indian Air Force fighter jets, a Sukhoi 30 and a Mirage 2000, crashed near Morena in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday morning. Both aircraft had taken off from the Gwalior air base in Madhya Pradesh, where an exercise was going on.
Search and rescue operations have been launched, informed Defence sources said.
According to the reports, the Sukhoi-30 had two pilots and the Mirage 2000 had one during the crash that occurred in the bordering areas of Morena and Bharatpur (Rajasthan). One fighter jet fell in Bharatpur and the other one in Morena.
Sources say that two of the pilots are safe and have been taken to a hospital in Gwalior. An IAF helicopter is on its way to the location of the third pilot.
A statement from the IAF says that a “Court of Inquiry” has been set up to find out “if there was a collision in mid-air or not.”
