ISM-NIPL signs MoU to revolutionise subsurface mining equipment

RNS: IIT-ISM, Dhanbad, signed an MoU with Normet India Private Limited (NIPL), Noida, to make a new revolution in the underground mining machinery arena.

This MoU will be accomplished by ensuring the employment of recent graduates of the institute, providing training to NIPL engineers, and also through the assistance of IIT (ISM) faculty members in the product modification, modernization, and validation processes, informed Rajni Singh, Dean, Media & Branding, ISM.

“NIPL is one of the leading underground mining machinery manufacturers and suppliers,” she added.

The MoU signed in the office of Professor Sagar Pal Dean (R&D) of IIT (ISM) will also facilitate sponsoring of R&D projects, which may be carried out wholly at IIT (ISM) or at premises of NIPL or partly at IIT (ISM) and partly at NIPM.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Professor Sagar Pal, Dean (R&D); Professor AR Dixit, Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering; LA Kumaraswamidhas, Associate Professor (Mechanical Engineering); Professor Ravi Kumar Gangwar, Associate Dean, Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy (SRIC ) (R&D); Prof Ejaz Ahmad, Coordinator, Sponsored Research & Industrial Consultancy (R&D) from IIT (ISM) side and Subhasis Mohanty, Vice President, India Sales Area & Managing Director, Normet India besides Prof Arup Ratan Chandra, General Manager, India SA Services BL and Global Services, CoE, Normet India will ensure employment of fresh Engineers in a systematic way through standard recruitment process.

The collaboration will also help in the engagement of students during the final year of their course to update themselves about industry, company, scope and future trends.

The training for NIPL personnel, on the other hand, may be provided in the area of their interest, like Mobile Hydraulics & Machine Safety and also Electronics & IOT.

The assistance of IIT (ISM) faculty members, on the other hand, will be provided for trouble shooting problems through the Kaizen Method.

Professor Kumaraswamidhas of Mechanical Engineering who played a key role in the signing of MoU said, “We joined hands together to make a sound revolution in the arena of underground mine machinery”.
