RNS: Former Ranchi (Jharkhand) DC Chhavi Ranjan, was arrested in connection with the Army land scam case and sent to jail in Judicial custody on Friday.
Chhavi Ranjan was produced before special ED judge Dinesh Rai. Later the ED court sentenced him to judicial custody at Birsa Munda Jail in Ranchi.
Chhavi Ranjan is an IAS officer of the 2011 batch. He is accused of involvement in the purchase and sale case of army land, one acre of land situated on Cheshire Home Road in the Sadar police station area, on the basis of fake documents.
He is also accused of illegally registering a disputed land in Ranchi and getting the boundary wall done; taking a bribe of Rs 1 Crore for the mutation of the land. ED has got strong evidence against Chhavi Ranjan in all these cases, only after which he was arrested.
