Cambodian King Sihamoni arrives India on a three-day visit

RNS: The King of Cambodia, Norodom Sihamoni, arrived in New Delhi this afternoon on a three-day visit to India.

Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs, welcomed the king. Tomorrow, the King will hold bilateral discussions with President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He will be greeted ceremoniously at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in the morning, after which he will pay floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat. Official sources said, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar would visit the King.

President Murmu will give a State Banquet in the evening honouring the visiting dignitary.

The visit is the mark of the 70th anniversary of India-Cambodia diplomatic relations. This visit by Cambodia’s King comes nearly six decades after the previous one, in 1963, by the current King’s father.

Notably, India actively supports Cambodia’s capacity building and human resource development. India has also provided grants and concessional loans for development projects. India has granted a 1.5 million dollar grant to acquire demining equipment and offered a 50 million dollar line of credit for buying defense equipment from India.
