Students Dazzle at DPS Bokaro’s Cultural Fiesta with Vibrant Dance Performances

 

Bokaro: ‘Tarang,’ was marked by an exhilarating display of Indian folk dance, on the second day of DPS Bokaro’s Cultural Fiesta, as students from all six houses competed in an Inter House Group Dance Competition. The event celebrated India’s rich cultural heritage and showcased the students’ exceptional rhythm and coordination.

The competition kicked off with Chenab House performing ‘Yakshgana,’ a traditional folk dance from Karnataka and Kerala depicting the childhood of Lord Krishna. This was followed by Jamuna House’s rendition of ‘Kolattam,’ a folk dance from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, highlighting devotion to Lord Balaji.

Jhelum House captivated the audience with ‘Rojjo,’ a dance representing the vibrant culture of Odisha, while Ganga House impressed with ‘Laavni,’ a traditional dance from Maharashtra. Raavi House showcased ‘Kalaripayattu,’ a Kerala martial art dance, and Sutlej House energized the crowd with ‘Bhangra,’ the lively dance of Punjab.

In a closely contested event, Jamuna and Raavi House tied for first place, while Chenab and Ganga House shared second place. Jhelum and Sutlej Houses secured third place. The competition was judged by Ankita Chakraborty (GGPS, Bokaro), Sanghmitra Chakraborty (Crescent Public School, Bokaro), and Amit Dasgupta (DPS Bokaro).

Dr. A. S. Gangwar, Principal of DPS Bokaro, commended all participants for their outstanding performances, praising their hard work, dedication, and discipline. “Dance has the unique ability to convey emotions, tell stories, and unite people,” he remarked.

The event’s welcome address was delivered by Ananya Raj, Head Girl, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Mansi Pandey, Vice Head Girl. The show was compered by Nayasha Singh Nagi, Mridul Aman, and Aditri.
