IIT ISM Dhanbad Alumnus Amitabh Ranjan Joins Advisory Board of Solar Future Alliance

Dhanbad: IIT ISM Dhanbad, alumnus of the B.Tech. Petroleum Engineering program (1993 batch), Amitabh Ranjan has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the Solar Future Alliance.

The alliance is a key platform focused on driving the energy transition in Asia and the Global South through the widespread adoption of solar energy.

Ranjan brings with him over 25 years of experience in governance, public administration, and energy transition, making him a valuable addition to the mission of advancing climate action. His professional journey spans various fields, including civil services, where he has consistently demonstrated leadership, innovation, and a strong commitment to sustainability.

Currently serving as the Registrar at the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) in New Delhi, Shri Ranjan plays a pivotal role in capacity-building for civil servants in India.

The IIPA, one of the country’s premier institutions for training and research in public administration, operates under the guidance of the Vice President of India and the Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions. In his role, Shri Ranjan has significantly contributed to enhancing governance and administrative practices in India.

Ranjan’s previous roles include Deputy Director at the STQC Directorate, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), and as a Provincial Civil Services (PCS) Officer in Uttar Pradesh. He is also credited with spearheading the computerization of the Transport Department in the state, implementing the “Vahan” and “Sarathi” projects for vehicle registration and driver licensing, both of which are now regarded as models of e-governance.

An advocate for renewable energy, Ranjan has a particular focus on solar energy, energy transition, and climate change. His global academic engagements in countries such as the USA, France, Germany, and Australia have broadened his perspective on international best practices, enhancing his strategic vision for a sustainable energy future.

As a Petroleum Engineer with extensive experience in the transport sector, Ranjan’s expertise will be instrumental in shaping the Solar Future Alliance’s mission to accelerate the global shift to renewable energy and sustainable solutions.
