Dhanbad: Om Prakash Sinha, a distinguished alumnus of IIT-ISM, Dhanbad, 1987 B.Tech batch in Petroleum Engineering, has been appointed as the Director (Exploration) of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) — a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India.
His selection comes after a competitive interview process conducted by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on 17 April. Sinha was chosen from a pool of 12 candidates, which included professionals from ONGC, Oil India Limited, Pawan Hans Limited, the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons, and ONGC Videsh Limited.
Currently serving as the Executive Director and Head of the Institute of Reservoir Studies in Ahmedabad, Sinha brings with him over 30 years of experience in hydrocarbon exploration, reservoir management, and production optimization. His expertise is expected to play a pivotal role in steering ONGC’s exploration initiatives and enhancing energy sustainability.
As the new Director (Exploration) and a member of ONGC’s Board of Directors, Sinha will oversee: Strategic exploration planning, Oil and gas reservoir enhancement, Reserve replacement targets, Infrastructure development for new finds, and Advanced solutions like Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) at ONGC.
