Quality Education Just a Claim, Not a Reality: Ahmad

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Pradesh Sanyukt Shikshak Morcha has accused the State School Education and Literacy Department of misleading the government in the name of quality education. At a core committee meeting held at Shanti Niwas, Argora Chowk, under the leadership of state convenor Amin Ahmed, the Front criticized the department’s failure to implement critical reforms.

Speaking on the ocasssion, Ahmed and state spokesperson Arun Kumar Das, the department ignored its own directive (letter no. 1502, dated 11 April 2025) to post teachers in 8,788 single-teacher schools by 25 April. They also highlighted that the student-teacher ratio mandated by the RTE Act, 2009 (30:1) is still widely neglected in government schools.

The Morcha further pointed out that most primary, middle, and high schools lack headmasters, despite decades of upgrades. Rural schools are often run by just one or two teachers, while urban schools see over-deployment, revealing deep-rooted disparities and administrative negligence.

The organization criticized the department’s practice of blaming teachers for poor quality education, while overburdening them with impractical tasks like split-syllabus lesson plans, daily reporting, and biometric tracking via malfunctioning apps. Many teachers rely on internet cafés to fulfill basic duties due to technical issues with department-issued tablets.

Despite a Jharkhand High Court order mandating compliance with Aadhaar-based Biometric Attendance Rules (2015), the department has failed to fully implement the system, the Front said.

The Morcha plans to submit a detailed suggestion and demand letter to the department. If concerns remain unaddressed, they warned of massive protests or legal action.

Besides others, Vijay Bahadur Singh, Amin Ahmed, Ashutosh Kumar, Arun Kumar Das, and Maqsood Zafar Hadi were present during the meet.
