The project will be spearheaded by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), in collaboration with Indian industry partners.
The green light follows the Cabinet Committee on Security’s (CCS) approval of the project in March 2024.
“This marks a major step forward in strengthening India’s indigenous defence capabilities and nurturing a self-reliant aerospace ecosystem,” the ministry stated. The AMCA is envisioned to elevate India into the elite group of nations possessing next-generation stealth fighter technology.
