New Delhi: A Delhi court on Thursday extended the judicial custody of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a key accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, till July 9. The order was passed by Special Judge Chander Jit Singh after Rana was produced before the Patiala House Court via video conferencing, following the expiry of his earlier custody period.
During the hearing, Rana’s counsel highlighted concerns over his deteriorating health, prompting the court to direct the Tihar Jail authorities to file a status report by Monday on his medical condition.
Rana, a Pakistani-Canadian national, is facing extradition proceedings and is accused of conspiring with David Coleman Headley in plotting the 2008 Mumbai attacks. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has already collected his voice and handwriting samples to match them with Headley’s recorded conversations.
The case remains under intense scrutiny as India continues to pursue justice for the victims of the 26/11 attacks.
