Asha Bhosle has had an extraordinary career spanning over eight decades. Born on September 8, 1933, in Sangli, she was destined for greatness, coming from a family of musicians. Her father, Pandit Dinanath Mangeshkar, was a renowned classical singer and stage actor. Asha began her journey at the age of 10, recording her first song, “Chala Chala Nav Bala” for the Marathi film Majha Bal in 1943. She made her Hindi film debut with “Saawan Aaya” from the film Chunariya in 1948.
In her early years, she struggled, often singing for sidelined roles and low-budget films. However, her perseverance paid off when she collaborated with leading composers, delivering iconic hits like “Aaiye Meherban,” “Dum Maro Dum,” and “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja.”
Asha Bhosle is celebrated for her exceptional versatility. She has sung in over 20 languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, and more.
