Bokaro/Delhi: Theatre artist Sunil Mohan Thakur was honoured during the 4th International Malangiya Festival 2026 in Delhi, where a key session of the Maithili Sahitya Mahasabha focused on “Maithili Theatre: Problems and Solutions.”
The session brought together noted voices including Kalpana Mishra, Khushbu Kumari, Ashish Neeraj, Saroj Jha, Kavita Pathak, Sunit Kumar Thakur and Shashi Bhushan Jha, who deliberated on challenges and future pathways for Maithili theatre.
At the end of the discussion, eminent litterateur Ashok Avichal felicitated Thakur along with other contributors.
A day earlier, the Maithili play Ek Kamal Nor, written by Mahendra Malangiya and staged by the Mithila Cultural Council, received an enthusiastic response. Directed by veteran theatre personality Shambhu Jha, the production saw Thakur earn praise for his compelling performance.
Following his recognition, Thakur was congratulated by several cultural figures, including Neeraj Chaudhary, Arun Kumar Pathak, Rajendra Kumar and Batohi Kunwar.
