RSS Never Looks for Sunset, It Lives with the Sunrise: Prof. Rakesh Sinha

Guwahati: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which was founded a century ago, never looks towards the sunset; instead, it lives with the spirit of the rising sun and will remain youthful forever, said Prof. Rakesh Sinha, former Rajya Sabha member and noted RSS thinker.

Addressing a distinguished gathering at Shankardev Hall, Keshav Dham, Paltan Bazar, Guwahati, on Saturday (July 18, 2026), Prof. Sinha said the RSS, founded by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, has sustained its vitality through its ideals and unwavering commitment to national service. He also remarked that the Sangh maintains an appropriate distance from the ruling establishment and that its functioning is never guided by those in power.

Delivering a lecture on “Param Pujya Dr. Hedgewar and the Century-long Legacy of the Sangh,” Prof. Sinha highlighted Dr. Hedgewar’s unique leadership, saying that he consciously kept himself behind the organization instead of promoting his own personality. According to him, Dr. Hedgewar opposed personality cults and believed that the ideology and mission of the RSS should always remain above individual recognition. Otherwise, he noted, the Sangh movement could have evolved into a “Hedgewar philosophy” centred around one individual rather than an enduring national ideology.

The acclaimed author of Understanding RSS and Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar further observed that the Sangh rejects social divisions and strives to promote equality and harmony among individuals. He described Dr. Hedgewar as “a man of action,” whose every initiative within the RSS was dedicated to the limitless welfare of humanity.

Expressing concern over the condition of Sanatani Hindus, Prof. Sinha said that despite being the majority, Hindus in India continue to remain divided on the basis of caste, region, and language, ultimately weakening society itself. He asserted that unless this mindset changes, it will not be possible to build a strong, united, and well-organized society.

He further cautioned that any unity forged merely in response to external religious aggression cannot endure for long. Concluding his address, Prof. Sinha urged every Bharatiya to recognize that all are children of Mother India and should move forward guided by that shared national consciousness.

The programme was organised by the Purbottar Bharat Adhyayan Samuh. It was conducted by Kishor Shivam, Uttar Asom Prant Prachar Pramukh. Around 100 distinguished citizens attended the event. RSS Mahanagar Sanghchalak Guru Prasad Medhi also shared the dais, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Kalpana Bora.
