New Delhi: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has dismissed a jawan from service with immediate effect after it was revealed that he concealed his marriage to a Pakistani national and facilitated her overstay in India, in violation of security protocols.
Munir Ahmed, stationed in Jammu and Kashmir, reportedly married Minal Khan— a Pakistani citizen from Punjab province—through an online nikah in May 2024 after connecting with her via social media. Khan entered India in March 2025 on a short-term visa, which expired on March 22. Despite the expiry, she remained in the country, citing an application for a long-term visa.
Authorities flagged the violation following heightened scrutiny after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. Khan was served a deportation notice but obtained temporary relief from a court while en route to the Attari-Wagah border.
An internal investigation by CRPF found that Ahmed had failed to disclose his cross-border marriage and his wife’s visa overstay—both considered serious breaches of conduct. Given the sensitive nature of his posting, the force viewed his actions as a potential security risk.
Officials underscored the incident as a reminder of the need for heightened vigilance within security forces, particularly in cases involving foreign nationals from countries with which India shares tense relations.
The CRPF described the breach as a “serious lapse” and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining strict internal discipline and national security.
