Bokaro : The vibrant spirit of Mithila lit up Bokaro as Maithili women from across Bokaro, Chas, and nearby areas gathered to celebrate the Madhushravani Milan Samaroh with devotion, tradition, and flair at Tripti Celebration, Sector-5.
Organized under the banner of Modern Women Mithilanchal Samaj, the grand Sawan-Madhushravani Mahotsav celebrated the sacred Shravan month with a deep dive into Mithila’s rich cultural heritage. The event began with a discourse on the significance of Madhushravani Puja — a ritual that symbolizes love, harmony, prosperity, and the bond of marriage through the worship of Shiva-Parvati and traditional tales of Vishahara Puja.
Women mesmerized the audience with soulful Maithili Pabani Vishahara songs, Maheshwani chants, and energetic dances on Kajri geet, creating a devotional yet festive vibe. Traditional songs like “Neechi Re Pokhariya, Oonchi Re Muhaar…”, and “Sawan Ke Boond Jhisi Piya Sang Khelab Pachisi Na…” had the audience swaying in joy.
Adding a fun twist, cultural contests were held during the event. Sangeeta Chaudhary bagged the title of Sawan Sundari, while Mamta Jha stood second. In the Daala decoration competition, Binu Choudhary, Upasana Jha, and Ila Jha were honoured for their creative flair.
The celebration concluded with women exchanging traditional makeup items as a token of love and praying for the long life of their husbands — staying true to the festival’s essence of devotion, togetherness, and cultural pride.
This colourful celebration left an indelible mark on everyone present, reinforcing the power of tradition in modern times.
