Jharkhand Launches India’s First Mining Tourism Circuit with CCL and JTDC

Explore Jharkhand’s Hidden Treasures: New Mining Tourism Circuit Launched

Ranchi: In a bold move to showcase the state’s industrial strength alongside its natural charm, Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation (JTDC) in collaboration with Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) has launched the state’s first Mining Tourism Circuit. This innovative initiative aims to offer tourists a closer look at Jharkhand’s coal-rich heartland, combining rugged mining landscapes with serene destinations like waterfalls and valleys.

The inaugural tour witnessed participation from 15 top social media influencers and 13 journalists, taken on a curated one-day expedition blending tourism and industry. Starting from Ranchi’s Hotel Birsa Vihar, the group embarked on a journey through Patratu Valley, admired the scenic Palani Falls, and later explored the Urimari coal mines—where the raw energy of Jharkhand’s industrial engine came alive.

Clad in safety gear, the participants observed live mining operations, blasting demonstrations, and cutting-edge machinery in action. CCL officials offered insights into the technical, economic, and environmental aspects of coal mining, giving visitors a rare window into one of the state’s biggest industries.

“This pioneering initiative will redefine Jharkhand’s image—from a mining hub to a destination of experiential learning,” said JTDC Director Prem Ranjan, highlighting how mining tourism can promote both education and awareness about the state’s resources and development.

Echoing the sentiment, a senior CCL official noted, “This partnership bridges the gap between industry and tourism. We look forward to expanding this experience to the general public soon.”

With plans underway to open the Mining Tourism Circuit for regular tourists, Jharkhand could soon become India’s trailblazer in industrial tourism, offering a rare mix of natural wonders and manmade marvels.
