Deoghar: The investigation into an alleged threat to blow up the BRICS Summit venue and the Gujarat Secretariat in Gandhinagar has now extended to Jharkhand, with a Gujarat Police team reaching Deoghar and detaining a young man for questioning.
The development follows leads reportedly obtained during the probe into the threatening email. The suspect, detained from the Deoghar Town Police Station area, is being questioned over his possible links to the email and the people behind the threat.
Police officials in both Gujarat and Deoghar have so far maintained silence on the identity of the youth and the precise nature of the evidence against him.
Gujarat threat probe widens
The threat triggered a major security alert in Gujarat, with agencies examining the alleged message targeting sensitive government and summit-related locations.
Investigators are now following the digital trail of the threatening email, including technical data, online activity and possible links between individuals who may have been involved.
The Gujarat Police team is understood to have reached Deoghar after obtaining specific leads during the earlier stages of the investigation.
Youth questioned over possible link
The detained man is being questioned to establish whether he had any direct role in sending the threat, assisted the sender or has links with a wider network.
Officials have not confirmed any criminal involvement so far, and the detention should not be construed as proof of guilt.
The investigation team is reportedly examining electronic and digital clues that could help trace the origin of the threatening communication and identify its sender.

The probe comes amid tight security for the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi, with world leaders attending the September 12–13 meeting at Bharat Mandapam. Security agencies have deployed thousands of personnel, including specialised units, around the venue, hotels and VVIP routes.
The widening of the Gujarat probe to Deoghar has therefore added a fresh layer to the security investigation.
The key questions now before investigators are who sent the threat, whether the Deoghar suspect has any connection with it, and whether the episode involves a larger network.
