Bokaro: Turning environmental awareness into meaningful action, ESL Steel Limited organised a school cleanliness and tree plantation drive at DY Patil International School, Alkusha, under its employee volunteering initiative ‘V for Society’.
The programme brought together 24 ESL Steel employee volunteers and around 200 students, creating an engaging platform to promote cleanliness, environmental responsibility and sustainable living. Through interactive awareness sessions, students were introduced to the 5S principles, the importance of maintaining clean and organised surroundings, and simple eco-friendly practices that can make a difference in everyday life.
The initiative moved beyond classroom discussions as employees, students, teachers and the CSR team joined hands for a tree plantation drive across the school campus. The plantation activity was followed by a cleanliness drive, reinforcing the message that protecting the environment requires active participation and collective effort.
Speaking on the initiative, Ravish Sharma, CEO & Whole-Time Director, ESL Steel Limited, said, “Through V for Society, we aim to foster environmental awareness and encourage collective responsibility. Engaging young minds in plantation and cleanliness drives is a meaningful step towards building a greener and more sustainable future.”
The programme reflects ESL Steel’s continued focus on employee volunteering, environmental stewardship and community participation. Through initiatives such as ‘V for Society’, the company is encouraging its employees and local communities to come together and contribute to cleaner, greener and more sustainable surroundings.
The participation of students in the plantation and cleanliness activities also underlined the importance of nurturing environmental consciousness among the younger generation, helping turn sustainability from an idea into an everyday responsibility.
