Reliance files Rs 10,000 cr defamation case on NDTV

GNS / New Delhi:  Anil Ambani’s Reliance Group has filed lawsuit of ten thousand crores rupees against NDTV in Ahmedabad court. It is the case that NDTV had seen a report on the deal of the Rafale jet fighters. The hearing of the matter has been kept on 26 October.

The whole case is on NDTV’s weekly TV show “Truth vs Hype”, which was aired on 29 September. NDTV claims that prior to broadcasting the program, repeated requests were made to the top officials of Reliance, whether they are involved in the program or respond to the matter.

There is a big discussion in India, not just in India – whether Anil Ambani’s Reliance was transparently chosen as a partner in the deal, in which India has to buy 36 fighter aircraft. NDTV says that despite repeated requests, none of the company officials of Anil Ambani have joined.

NDTV has reacted sharply throughout the episode, saying that since Reliance’s deal has become a big news in India, notice on Reliance Group notice is being given- ignoring the facts, whose story is not just on NDTV in every place.

There is a charge of Rs 10,000 crore on a news company in a Gujarat court in fake and false accusations to prevent the media from doing its work.

NDTV has stated on Reliance’s defamation case that NDTV completely rejects allegations of defamation and will present material in court in support of its favor.

NDTV has also said that as a news organization, we are committed to such independent and impartial journalism that brings the truth to the fore. NDTV has also said that it is ready to face every situation.
