RNS: Any member of the transgender community registered on the National Portal for Transgender Persons is entitled to avail healthcare benefits under Ayushman Bharat. Such persons can avail of the facility in any hospital empanelled under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AM-PMJAY).
National Health Authority has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to extend AB-PMJAY benefits to the transgender community which is under the Support for Marginalized Individuals for Livelihood and Enterprise framework launched by the Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry, said Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha,.
Apart from the Health Benefits Packages specified for AB-PMJAY, these individuals are eligible for an additional fifty Sex Reassignment Surgery Health Benefits Packages, Minister said.
