MNVA 1st batch training begins from 22 February

RNS: The first training session of the Mongia National Volleyball Academy (MNVA) is scheduled to get underway from 22 February. Around 27 budding talented volleyball players would be trained during the session by international coaches, informed Jaideep Sarkar, Secretary General of the Academy.

MNVA happens to be the First residential National Volleyball Academy in India at Giridih, Jharkhand, with its unique and innovative functioning, said Jaideep. “It’s one of the rarest sporting ambiences in India where you can find the portraits of the great inventor of Volleyball, Sir W.G. Morgan, along with the photos of the founder of the Academy across the campus with slogans of Olympism, Olympic values, Spirit of sports and more,” he added.

Hundreds of aspiring volleyball players from across India, including many from Jharkhand, were put through rigorous modern selection processes to find the best for the training on February 12 and 13 at Mongia National Volleyball Academy in Giridih, Jharkhand.

The screening and selection procedures were conducted under the efficient guidance of Dr. Gunwant Singh Mongia, President of Mongia Steel and MNVA and under the supervision of a four-member expert selection committee, which was headed by international coach Shubhankar Chakraborty, he informed.

The players were screened through modern methods of selection. “Following a detailed skill test and a motor ability test aspects such as height, weight, upper-lower limb ratio, hand-wing span, attack and block, jump, agility, abdominal strength, and broad jump, qualified athletes were selected,” Jaideep explained.

MNVA is also one of it’s kind Sports Academy, where cadets from Schools, as well as Colleges, are eligible for admission on a purely merit basis. As per the advice of our President Dr. Mongia, we have widened the age group from a tender 12 to 19 years, most probably the widest age range in the country. These selected talented cadets will be provided with the best quality accommodation, fooding, education, coaching, health care, insurance, sports exposure & the like to make them champions in Volleyball at the National and International levels.
