Adani Green Energy is now India’s first firm to surpasses 10000 MW renewable energy

RNS: Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has achieved a significant milestone by becoming India’s first firm to surpass 10,000 megawatts (MW) of operational renewable energy capacity. This achievement solidifies AGEL’s position as India’s largest and one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies.

AGEL’s operational portfolio now includes 7,393 MW of solar power, 1,401 MW of wind power, and 2,140 MW of wind-solar hybrid capacity. This milestone marks a significant step towards AGEL’s goal of reaching 45,000 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

The 10,934 MW operational portfolio of AGEL is expected to power more than 5.8 million homes and help avoid approximately 21 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, expressed pride in AGEL’s achievement, stating, “We are proud to be India’s first das hazari in the renewables space. In less than a decade, Adani Green Energy has not just envisioned a greener future but has actualised it, growing from a mere idea to explore clean energy to achieving a phenomenal 10,000 MW in installed capacity.”

AGEL’s focus on sustainable practices is evident through its certification as ‘single-use plastic free,’ ‘zero waste-to-landfill,’ and ‘water positive for plants with more than 200 MW capacity.’ These efforts align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation and infrastructure, water stewardship, waste management and a circular economy, biodiversity management, and climate action.
