Dhanbad: The Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) is set to boost Jharkhand’s power distribution infrastructure with a significant investment aimed at enhancing the region’s energy capabilities. Chairman S. Suresh Kumar announced that DVC will roll out 11 kV infrastructure across 25 locations in the state, including the installation of 12 e-House substations.
The initiative, which aims to improve power distribution efficiency, reduce operational costs, and provide high-quality, affordable electricity to industries, is expected to drive regional growth. “This project will not only improve the reliability of power distribution but also contribute to the economic development of Jharkhand,” Kumar said during the inauguration of DVC’s first 33/11 kV e-House substation at Dhanbad Kandra.
Kumar highlighted the importance of ongoing power plant and substation construction projects as essential to both Jharkhand’s progress and India’s energy sector development. As part of its modernization efforts, DVC is incorporating advanced technologies such as Ring Main Units (RMUs), underground cabling, an Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), and a Meter Data Management System (MDMS). Furthermore, two central control rooms will be established in Kalyaneshwari and Koderma for unmanned, centralized monitoring of substations.
“The corporation remains committed to improving regional infrastructure by delivering efficient and sustainable energy solutions,” Kumar added, emphasizing DVC’s vital role in enhancing the state’s power supply and fostering economic growth.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Dr. John Mathai (Member Secretary), Arup Sarkar (Member Finance), S.K. Panda (Member Technical), Vivek Sarwate (Country Business Head, Siemens Limited), Rajesh Kumar (Executive Director, Distribution), and Sanjeev Srivastava (Executive Director, Commercial). The event was hosted by Rajiv Ranjan Sinha, DVC’s Chief Public Relations Officer, alongside senior officials and industry representatives.
