Bokaro Administration Cracks Down on Illegal Mining, Destroys ‘Rat Holes’ in Gomia

Bokaro, Jharkhand: Bokaro district administration launched a major operation to combat illegal mining activities in the region on Friday, with a targeted demolition of illegal “rat holes” in Bagaria village, Gomia.

This operation is part of the ongoing efforts directed by Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav, who formed a special committee to address the rising illegal mining activities across Bokaro.

In a joint effort under the KBP project of the CCL Hazaribagh area, 160 illegal mining sites were targeted. Using drilling machines, holes were created and then destroyed through controlled blasting, effectively closing down the dangerous mining holes.

This initiative is crucial as illegal mining in the region has been increasing, especially in Bokaro, Dhanbad, Giridih, and Hazaribagh, with tragic loss of lives due to unsafe mining practices.

The operation was carried out by a joint committee, which included Sandeep Kumar from the Forest Division Department, District Mining Officer Ravi Kumar Singh, officers from CCL, local police, and district force personnel.

This swift action reflects the district administration’s commitment to eradicating illegal mining and preventing further casualties associated with these hazardous activities.
