Kumar Amit Urges Coal Minister to Upgrade BGH into Superspeciality Hospital, Address Local Issues

New Delhi: Kumar Amit, a member of the BJP state working committee, met with Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy in Delhi to present a series of demands aimed at improving health and infrastructure in Bokaro.

During the meeting, Kumar Amit advocated for the transformation of Bokaro General Hospital (BGH) into a superspeciality hospital.

He highlighted the hospital’s significance as one of the largest healthcare facilities in eastern India, serving not only local residents but also patients from neighboring states. Amit pointed out that BGH, operated by SAIL, faces challenges due to a shortage of qualified doctors and resources, despite its existing infrastructure.

Amit suggested that the Indian government could enhance BGH’s capabilities by providing special funds, similar to the support given to Rourkela. He emphasized that such an upgrade would greatly benefit patients from Jharkhand and surrounding eastern states.

In addition to the healthcare request, Kumar Amit addressed several other issues, including the water scarcity in coal mining areas. He proposed utilizing stored mine water for local colonies, accelerating rehabilitation efforts, and tackling corruption within coal companies.

Amit also called for a high-level investigation into the ongoing coal thefts, which he claims are occurring under the protection of the state government.

Minister G. Kishan Reddy acknowledged the concerns rose by Amit and assured that these issues would be addressed with the necessary action.
