Bokaro: In a major push toward transforming Jharkhand’s energy landscape, the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) has set an ambitious deadline: land preparation for its upcoming 1600 MW (2×800 MW) ultra-modern power plant in Chandrapura will be completed by December 2025.

The announcement electrified a high-stakes coordination meeting that brought together a wide range of local stakeholders—from schools and banks to telecom giants and elected representatives. Presiding over the meet, DVC’s Senior General Manager and Project Head, Vijaya Nand Sharma, along with HR head Dr. D.C. Pandey, unveiled a preliminary blueprint of the mega project that promises to reshape the region.

In a move emblematic of progress, the current DVC colony in Chandrapura is set to be dismantled to pave the way for a cutting-edge residential complex. Plans also include the construction of a new ash pond—key to supporting the plant’s massive infrastructure.

“This is not just a plant—it’s the engine of a brighter, stronger future for Chandrapura,” Sharma declared. “We’re talking about sustainable employment for the next 30 years, along with robust regional development. The clock is ticking, and we’re fully geared to accelerate every procedure needed for construction.”

The meeting witnessed vocal support from institutional heavyweights like State Bank of India, Bank of India, Canara Bank, LIC, BSNL, and the local post office. Prominent educational institutions—including Dinobli Vidyalaya, Blossom School, Birsa Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, and Holy Cross School—also pledged their cooperation.

Local leadership rallied behind the initiative, with figures such as Mukhiya Narayan Marandi, Kavita Singh, Anita Kumari, and ex-Mukhiya Vidyanand Nand Kuliyar affirming their commitment. Though Block Pramukh Chandni Parveen could not attend due to personal reasons, the mood remained upbeat.

Senior DVC personnel including Hari Mukund Prajapati, Rajkumar Chaudhary, Awadhesh Singh Shekhawat, Anutosh Ekka, Akshay Kumar, Shrivatsa, and Prafull Bhandari lent further weight to the project’s credibility and urgency.

With all eyes on Chandrapura, this high-voltage development marks a bold step toward energy self-reliance—and a historic chapter in Jharkhand’s industrial journey.
